New Broken Hallelujah Official Lyric Video

“Broken Hallelujah” is a tender and lyrically rich anthem about praising God in the times when we feel most broken. Inspired by wildfires in Colorado, photos from a friend of flames creeping toward his church urged The Afters to write a song that would minister in times of loss.

“There were times,” Havens recalls, “when we were in tears writing that song.  We opened the book of Job and saw a man who experienced more losses than we could ever fathom. In the midst of all that, he shaved his head and got rid of his clothes so that he had nothing left, and yet he still worshiped God. ‘Broken Hallelujah’ came out of that sense that when we’re broken, the only thing we have is our worship.

I would just like to say this song has gotten me through some tough times. Each time I hear it, I know it’s God reminding me He will take care of me and I should still praise Him while I’m under fire. Soli deo gloria.

    Dear Brothers,
This song is such a blessing! I heard this song 3 weeks ago. I have a staph infection in one of my legs and the antibiotic I was taking caused a severe rash over my whole body. I have felt like Job for awhile. I was diagnosed with a large tumor 2 and 1/2 years ago. My life has been turned upside down. I’ve struggled with bitterness against God. This song has been a strong encouragement. I just went back to church this past Sunday for the first time in 1 and 1/2 years. God has used your song to bless my soul when I needed it the most. Keep writing brothers for God is using you. I know that God has been using this fiery trial to break me and refine my faith. It is easy to praise God when it is easy but He wants us praise Him as He teaches us the things that we can only learn in the fiery furnace of affliction. To God alone be the glory and praise.
