Light Up The Sky

Lift Me Up

We hope you all are enjoying our song and video for “Lift Me Up!” The word of God is one of the best places to receive that encouragement from the Lord each day, so I wanted to share one of my favorite verses that has always lifted me up! The passage of scripture that comes to mind when I think of “Lift Me Up” is Psalm 23. I memorized it when I was a kid, and a few years ago when I was going though some hard times, I remembered that passage and would quote it to myself. It never failed to remind me that God is with me, and loves me, and would always lift me up. – Matt

“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” – Psalm 23

We’d love to hear from you guys! What is your “Lift Me Up” verse?

Hey everyone,

If you bought our “Light Up The Sky EP” or any of the individual tracks from our album last week on iTunes we wanted to let you know about an exclusive behind the scenes video that you may have missed out on. There were a few days last week where you may not have been able to purchase the full album as a whole, along with the bonus video, so we wanted to make sure you had a chance to get that if you weren’t able to. iTunes is now allowing you to complete your album, which means you’ll get the remainder of the record at a discounted rate (minus the tracks you already bought) as well as the exclusive bonus video that only iTunes has. Even if you bought all 10 tracks separately on iTunes, you can still get the video now by completing your album.

Here’s all you’d have to do-

1) Follow this link- RIGHT HERE

2) Under the album cover you should see a blue sentence that says “Complete My Album.” Below that is the “Buy Album” button with a newly adjusted price based on the tracks you previously purchased. If you want to get the bonus video and any remaining tracks on the album click that button!

‘Light Up The Sky’ Preview – For The First Time

For The First Time is one of my favorite songs on the new record. It’s a song about rebirth and new beginnings. It’s very representative of where we are as a band. Even though we’ve been a band for over 10 years, in some ways everything feels new again. Its a very refreshing season for us. It’s also a personal song for Matt and I, but in different ways.

My family and I were involved in a massive car accident earlier this year. I was driving along a stretch of highway with my wife and 3 kids when a car pulled out in front of us. He caused us to flip over and ended up upside-down in a ditch. I remember thinking that I could have just lost my entire family…I saw that my wife was ok and then one by one heard the cries of each of my children…The sound of their voices was as beautiful as when I heard their cries for the first time when they were born. We all walked away from that accident without any serious injuries. The trooper who arrived on the scene said it was the worst wreck he’d seen without a fatality. That very well could have been our time, and that would have been ok. We were blessed on that day and it will always be a reminder to my family and I of how fragile life is. It’s almost cliche to say this, but we really don’t know how long we have. I don’t know how many times in my life I’ve procrastinated exigent things. We can’t put off the things that matter. Now is the time to live for the things that are important.

Things happen throughout life that put things into perspective. It’s different for all of us, but that wreck was one of those things for me. Matt says that when his wife got saved, she literally woke up one day and felt like a new and changed person. I love that in life, tomorrow is a blank page. We don’t have to be weighed down by our past or let our mistakes and regrets define us.

‘Light Up The Sky’ Preview – Life Is Sweeter

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

“Life is Sweeter” was the first song that Matt and I wrote with our new bandmates, Dan and Jordan. We lost some people really close to us last year. Our manager and friend David Lipscomb passed away after a 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer and our drummer Jordan’s lifelong best friend Ron McClelland passed away unexpectedly of unknown reasons. Losing the people that we love is one of the harder things in life. Writing this song and looking at the other side of life and death was a sort of closure for us. It’s comforting to know that death is not the end, but rather the beginning. -josh
